Cruises: 7 Things You Need to Know

IMG_7375.jpgLots of Rocking

This will bother some and not bother others. Depending on weather, location, and or water depth, the rocking of your cruise ship at night can be bothersome. Other than waking up a few times throughout my cruise, it didn’t bother me. My sister on the other hand had quite the hard time with it.

TONS of Activities

When I say there is always something to do, there really is. 8am yoga on the deck, 10am bingo in the lounge, 3pm afternoon tea…the activities is endless. But try and remember that it’s ok if you don’t do everything – cruises are meant to be relaxing.

You’ll Eat Yourself Silly

Prepare to roll yourself off the cruise ship when everything is all said and done. There is food everywhere at all hours of the day, trust me you’ll never go hungry!

Service is Top Notch

Be prepared for 5 star service throughout your experience. Our dinner servers knew how I liked my steak cooked by the second night-never had to remind them again. Our stateroom was tidied up multiple times a day – never while we were in the room (how do they do it?!). And don’t be surprised if the staff has your name memorized – something about being called ‘Ms Burns’ makes you feel really special.

A new animal every time we came into the room-how cute!

Water Isn’t Free

Having water in your room is something I think a lot of Americans take for granted when it comes to accommodation(anywhere else in the world you’re likely to pay for cold water). Be sure to bring a water bottle to fill up throughout your cruise. Or you can always sneak your glass from the dinning hall up to your room like my sister and I did…(:

Or you could drink Piña Coladas instead of water 😉

Boat Map=Your Best Friend

You’re gonna get lost the first day or two(or the whole cruise if you’re my mother). But you’ll soon learn where to find those ship maps on the walls and which way is towards the front and back of the ship.

Sunrises Are the Best

Everyone flocks to the open decks for the sunsets, and don’t get me wrong they’re gorgeous. But anyone who’s been on a cruise will understand when I say that the sunrises are a real treat.
