Recently, a friend of mine and I took an end of the summer trip to Washington D.C. and New York City (post to come soon!). Neither of us had been to the USA capital before, and with one full day, one evening, and one morning I was determined to make the most of our time in D.C. Here is some info on where we slept, how we got around, and where we explored – and where you should too!
Sometimes you just need to take a few days to yourself. And after a long and hard semester at school, I thought I definitely deserved to treat myself. So I guess that’s how I ended up in Portland :). Here are a few of my favorite snaps from the trip. Enjoy.
As some of you know, I recently had the privilege to go on an alternative spring break volunteer trip with Alternative Spartan Breaks . I traveled with a group of 9 other MSU students, and 1 adult, to Monteverde Costa Rica. We spent the week working on a local sustainable coffee farm; interacting with their migrant workers, picking/sorting coffee, and doing other misc. farm chores. Long story short, it was one of the best weeks of my life and I wanted to share my experience to inform others on what to expect and encourage everyone out there to push themselves and volunteer in a foreign country!

During my time spent downstate at school, I have progressively explored my native state’s capitol. I’ve put together a “day’s worth of eating” guide for all my fellow foodies out there. Hope you enjoy! Breakfast: Strange Matter Coffee Co. Frequently adorned with hipsters typing away on their laptops, and warm welcoming baristas, this little gem is where you need to head to for breakfast. I … Continue reading A Day of Eats in Lansing, MI
